Prepare for an application by separating three tasks: gathering information, reviewing an offer and agreeing to repayment. This checklist helps you keep track of questions at each stage.

Before entering your information

Find the instructions for the application you intend to use. Ask which documents are needed, how to provide them and whether any later step requires a visit or a conversation. Keep a list of missing items so you can resolve them before starting.

Identification, income and account information are common topics in payday loan applications, but the specific requirements must come from the provider handling the application. The CFPB's qualification overview explains general requirements. It does not establish the checklist for your particular application.

Read the privacy information shown with the form. Locate the name and contact information of the party receiving your details, the stated use of that information and any consent you are asked to give. Review the site's privacy page as an additional reference.

Prepare information, submit a request, review any written offer and make a separate acceptance decision. Submission is not acceptance.
A submitted request and an accepted agreement are separate stages.

Keep the stages clear

  1. Prepare. Confirm the document instructions and decide how much you need for the expense.
  2. Complete the requested fields. Check names, dates and contact details for errors. Use the form's own instructions for supporting information.
  3. Review any next-step message. Save a reference number or confirmation and note whether further information is requested.
  4. Read the offer. Identify the product, total repayment, due dates and payment method before deciding whether to accept.
  5. Keep your records. Retain the agreement, disclosures and the contact for payment questions.

Submitting information and accepting an agreement are different steps. Read the wording of each button and consent so that you understand the action you are taking. Use the cash advance guide to clarify the product and the repayment guide to review its budget impact.

Application questions

What if I do not have a requested document?

Ask whether an alternative is accepted and how it should be supplied. Do not assume a different document will satisfy the request.

When should I expect a response or funds?

Ask separately about application review, a decision and delivery of funds. Record any stated conditions and the contact to use if an expected update does not arrive.

What if I need to correct information?

Use the correction or contact route provided with the application. Keep a note of what changed and any confirmation you receive.
